Your Symbol & Heritage
Carrying Place's unique "Portage Man" symbol originates from a long historic heritage. The golf course served as a popular route linking the rivers Holland and Humber back in the 16th and 17th centuries. Centuries that saw the likes of Etienne Brule, LaSalle, Duluth and Champlain who trod its paths and struggled through its long trails. Today, that same route, with its gently rolling hills and almost mystical lushness, presents an incomparable landscape of scenic richness and beauty.
Your Golf Course
Built in 1958, Carrying Place is a friendly and challenging golf course. 125 acres of gently rolling terrain, mature trees, manicured greens and over 11 acres of water hazards. This magnificent golf course is truly unique.
Your Clubhouse
The Clubhouse, built in 1970 and recently renovated and expanded in 1994 houses all the amenities a country club has to offer. Over 16,000 square feet overlooking a tranquil country setting, the clubhouse accomodates a complete ful service Pro Shop. Members Lounge, Locker Rooms, fully licensed restaurant and Patio Terrace.
Your Golf Services
As host to many tournaments, corporate functions and private sessions, Carrying Place has acquired a high level of experience and expertise in golf management. Golf services include bag storage, complimentry pull carts, computerized handicapping and host of other fine services.
